The screens are made of Corten steel, water jet cut with a pattern inspired by maps of the local area and screen printed with illustrations reflecting the history of High Street.
The process was influenced by community engagement workshops working with the new building residents.
A model of the screens in context was created by Dress for the Weather and samples of the waterjet cut corten steel by a local fabricator.
Monochrome and textured illustrations were screen-printed in house onto the metal.
The illustrations will slowly merge into the metal creating a tonal pattern.
The screens protect the building facade from traffic and pedestrian access while the colour and textures merge themselves into the urban landscape.
