Responding to the surrounding environment and context of each health centre we have created designs for upholstered seating within the lobby and waiting areas.
The patterns were printed digitally onto a vinyl fabric tailored to NHS specifications to then be upholstered onto the chairs.
The colours chosen complement the therapeutic environment of the health centres and consider theories on the psychology of colour and dementia research.
Each centre's artwork was inspired by community engagement sessions with local schools and art groups.
The poem ‘Black and White Allsorts’ by Liz Lochhead was at the centre of our inspiration for this monochrome design created for Wishaw Library.
We created a pattern based representation of the poem for a wallcovering design which wraps around the room.
A useful tool for creative writing workshops, the design can be read alongside the poem and interpreted by the viewer.
The design was manipulated to create a number of different printed Formica table tops and a patterned wipeable colouring board.
